Principal Identity Governance Lead

About the Role
The Principal Identity Governance Lead is responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing a comprehensive identity governance program that addresses both human and non-human identity requirements across Hyland's enterprise. In collaboration with IAM, IT, Security, Security Architecture, and AI Governance teams, this role will assess the current state of identity systems and architecture, identify governance gaps, and redesign the program to align with Hyland's AI-first strategy while meeting applicable ISO standards and emerging regulatory frameworks. The Principal Identity Governance Lead will serve as both a governance architect and strategic program leader, defining enterprise identity governance requirements and partnering with technical architects and operational teams on implementation.
Here's What You'll Do
- Lead the comprehensive assessment and redesign of identity governance and administration architecture in partnership with third-party consulting firms; architect an integrated identity program that accounts for both human and non-human identities including service accounts, API tokens, AI agents, and bots, aligned with Hyland's AI technology strategy and operational model
- Design governance frameworks, role-based access control models, and delegation patterns that accommodate agentic and AI-driven workloads while maintaining security, compliance, and auditability; develop identity and access governance standards and controls supporting both traditional IAM and modern agentic identity requirements across multiple cloud providers and on-premises systems
- Serve as primary liaison and program lead with third-party assessment and redesign partners, managing scope, timelines, deliverables, and stakeholder alignment; collaborate with IAM and PAM operations leadership to ensure new governance frameworks integrate seamlessly with existing day-to-day operations
- Establish governance workflows and approval processes for access provisioning, recertification, deprovisioning, and privilege elevation across human and non-human identity categories; create governance models and identity hierarchies that support compliance with ISO 27001, 42001, and emerging AI governance requirements while enabling business agility
- Drive organizational adoption of the new identity governance model through communication, training, change management, and executive alignment; establish metrics, monitoring, and reporting to measure IGA program effectiveness including access review completion rates, compliance posture, and time-to-access for critical business requests
- Maintain a strategic perspective on emerging identity threats, regulatory changes, and technical capabilities; advise leadership on enterprise identity strategy and recommend prioritized improvements across the identity technology landscape

Role Essentials
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information security, engineering, or a related field with 8+ years of progressive experience in identity management, including at least 5 years in SaaS cloud-native environments
- Demonstrated expertise in identity governance frameworks, role-based access control design, privilege access management, and IAM architecture; deep experience leading large-scale identity program transformations, assessments, and implementations across enterprise environments
- Strong understanding of modern cloud identity platforms, directory services, and federation technologies; experience with emerging identity challenges including API security, service account management, and non-human identity governance
- Familiarity with ISO 27001, 42001, and SOC2 compliance requirements related to identity and access control; certifications such as CISSP, CCSK, CISA, or IAM-specific credentials preferred
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence technical and business functions at all levels including executive leadership; excellent facilitation and project management skills
