This role partners closely with R&D, product, and editorial teams to deliver high-quality documentation that supports both internal and external audiences.
This is a role for someone who combines strong writing skills with genuine technical curiosity — someone who takes pride in clarity, accuracy, and producing documentation that makes complex software approachable and easy to understand.
Your Role Responsibilities? Here's What You'll Do.
- Research, build, and maintain knowledge about products, services, technology, and concepts to create accurate, well-structured documentation for new and moderately complex software products.
- Update and edit existing product documentation to reflect software changes, ensuring all content conforms to established quality standards for structure, content, and style before submission to the editorial team.
- Meet with subject matter experts, attend relevant meetings, and collaborate with R&D colleagues to verify that documentation accurately reflects software behavior and product functionality.
- Ensure software is functioning as expected; escalate identified bugs, software design issues, and usability concerns to the appropriate R&D stakeholders and drive issues toward timely resolution.
- Actively participate in discussions regarding product direction and design; proactively seek information about product development to anticipate and prepare for upcoming software changes.
- Identify and troubleshoot issues within the authoring environment; use experience to make informed, quality-focused decisions — with minimal guidance — that improve the layout, accuracy, and overall functionality of assigned documentation.
Role Essentials
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in English or Technical Communication, with demonstrated working experience writing concise, grammatically correct, and well-structured technical documentation for software products.
- Working experience with desktop authoring and publishing tools, with a proven ability to quickly learn and adapt to additional tools required for the role; strong technical aptitude and a dedication to producing high-quality, accurate documentation.
- Strong editing skills and exceptional attention to detail, with a commitment to quality and consistency across all documentation — including adherence to established standards for structure, content, and style.
- Good interpersonal and collaboration skills, with a history of building productive working relationships with subject matter experts, R&D colleagues, and cross-functional teams to ensure documentation accuracy and completeness.
- Good oral and written communication skills that demonstrate a professional demeanor and the ability to interact with others with discretion and tact; strong decision-making skills with the ability to make informed, independent judgments that improve documentation quality.
What We'd Like to See
- Strong ability to install, use, configure, and troubleshoot software, with experience identifying and resolving issues within authoring environments — independently or with minimal guidance from documentation leadership.
- Experience actively contributing to product direction and design discussions, with the ability to proactively anticipate upcoming software changes and prepare documentation ahead of release cycles.
- Demonstrated ability to perform advanced technical writing tasks, including contributing to documentation process improvements and taking on complex assignments as determined in collaboration with documentation team management.
- Experience escalating and driving resolution of software bugs, design issues, and usability concerns to the appropriate R&D stakeholders, with a proactive and solutions-oriented approach to product quality.
- Familiarity with Agile or iterative software development environments, with the ability to manage multiple documentation projects simultaneously, adapt to shifting priorities, and deliver high-quality content within defined timelines.
