About the Role

As a Senior Cyber Security Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining advanced cyber security solutions to protect Hyland's systems, networks, and data from evolving cyber threats. You will play a critical role in the development, deployment, and administration of security technologies while providing expert-level support for cyber security incidents and operations. This role requires strong technical expertise in network and system security, secure architecture design, security tool implementation, and incident response — and is ideal for a seasoned security professional who operates with autonomy, leads with influence, and is deeply committed to continuous learning.

Your Role Responsibilities – Here's What You'll Do

  • Design, implement, and maintain secure network architectures, systems, and infrastructure to mitigate cyber security risks; develop and enforce security policies, standards, and best practices to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards
  • Evaluate, deploy, and configure security technologies including IDS/IPS, vulnerability management, web filtering, endpoint protection, DLP, CSPM, IAM, and SIEM solutions; develop and maintain security toolsets, scripts, and automation workflows to enhance security operations and incident response capabilities
  • Conduct security assessments and audits of existing systems to identify vulnerabilities and weaknesses; partner with the business to solve complex technology challenges by applying security by design and privacy by design principles
  • Provide expert-level support for the investigation and response to cyber security incidents including breaches, malware infections, and insider threats; conduct forensic analysis to determine the root cause, scope, and impact of security breaches
  • Implement and manage security monitoring tools including SIEM, threat intelligence platforms, vulnerability management platforms, and log/analytic management systems; provide expert-level support for analyzing network traffic, system logs, and security events for indicators of compromise and anomalous activities
  • Mentor, coach, train, and provide feedback to team members; develop and implement incident response plans and procedures to minimize the impact of security incidents and restore normal operations

Role Essentials – What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in cyber security roles with a strong focus on security engineering, platform administration, and security architecture design
  • Deep understanding of network security principles, technologies, and best practices, including strong knowledge of networking concepts such as subnetting, routers, switches, firewalls, and the OSI model
  • Proficiency in security tools and technologies such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, IAM, vulnerability management, and endpoint protection solutions
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact with others with discretion and tact; strong leadership, sound judgment, collaboration, and interpersonal skills applied successfully within teams and across all levels of the organization
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills; self-motivated with the ability to manage projects to completion with minimal oversight and a demonstrated ability to influence, motivate, and mobilize team members and business partners

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems, Linux, and macOSoperating systems
  • ProficiencyinPowerShell, Shell scripting, and Python 
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, and provide timely feedback to team members on complex cyber security topics
  • Strong ability to use original thinking to translate goals into the implementation of new ideas and design solutions
  • Experience with threat hunting activities to proactively identify and mitigate potential security threats and vulnerabilities
  • Strong commitment to continuous learning and professional development in the field of cyber security
