Overview

Senior Account Executive

Location: Remote, United States Work Arrangement: Remote

About the Role

The Senior Account Executive is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with new and existing customers and partners with the clear objective of consistently meeting or exceeding assigned sales goals. This role goes beyond transactional selling — it requires a trusted advisor mindset, strategic account planning, and the ability to build lasting relationships that drive long-term growth. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, highly organized sales professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and brings a proven track record of year-over-year success.

Your Role Responsibilities? Here's What You'll Do.

  • Develop a comprehensive sales plan to meet or exceed quota — identifying and prioritizing opportunities for assigned existing and potential customers or partners while delivering accurate, real-time sales forecasting.
  • Proactively initiate contact with potential customers and partners on a regular basis — building and expanding business relationships, operating as a trusted advisor, and developing a strong network of contacts throughout target organizations.
  • Research and identify target customers, developing a deep understanding of their technical and business needs — partnering with Sales Solution Engineers to develop and deliver compelling software demonstrations that drive opportunities forward.
  • Record all customer account information in the CRM including opportunities, commitments, meaningful conversations, and customer visits — maintaining a comprehensive and accurate view of account activity and pipeline health at all times.
  • Determine the viability of RFP requests, directly influencing the appropriate development of responses — engaging company specialists and support resources as needed while developing and executing closing plans that bring deals home on time and as forecasted.
  • Contribute to the overall growth and quality of the sales team by sharing extensive experience and best practice knowledge, providing guidance and support to fellow team members, and actively representing Hyland at trade shows and industry events.

Role Essentials

You'll be set up for success if you have:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, with a proven track record of year-over-year sales generation success in an Account Executive or Account Manager role
  • Strong knowledge and expertise in sales, relevant industry solutions, or technology — with proficiency in opportunity management and account planning tools
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills that demonstrate a professional demeanor and the ability to engage with others with discretion and tact at all organizational levels
  • Strong ability to establish rapport, earn trust, and build consensus across multiple departments and leadership levels — with sharp negotiating and influencing skills
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and experienced at successfully managing multiple priorities independently through to completion

What We'd Like to See

Bonus points if you bring:

  • Deep familiarity with CRM tools and the discipline to maintain accurate, up-to-date account information and pipeline data in real time
  • Experience partnering closely with sales solution engineers and technical teams to develop and deliver impactful, tailored software demonstrations
  • A strong understanding of market trends and competitive dynamics with the ability to proactively identify and pursue opportunities for company expansion and integration
  • Excellent collaboration skills applied effectively within sales teams and across cross-functional areas including marketing, services, and leadership
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% of the time to support customer engagements, trade shows, and business development activities
