About the Role

The Senior Software Architect is a technical leader accountable for ensuring the technical designs for software components in scope are fit for purpose, well-documented, and aligned with product roadmap, business goals, and technology strategy. In this role, you will partner closely with product owners and engineering teams to drive sound architectural decisions, mentor developers, and uphold design excellence across a defined set of components. Your Role Responsibilities — Here's What You'll Do

  • Form a close partnership with relevant product owners to lead, facilitate, coordinate, and govern requirements analysis and software design activities for components in scope, ensuring designs are fit for purpose and adhere to architectural constraints, quality attributes, and best practice guidance.
  • Collaborate with software developers and other software architects to produce design documentation that clearly and accurately describes components in scope, complying with all architectural guidance in place.
  • Work with software developers to identify and prioritize deficiencies in the design of components in scope, leading efforts to create a reasonable and actionable plan to address those deficiencies.
  • Provide timely design decisions and guidance to unblock development teams, addressing obstacles and challenges they encounter while continuously monitoring and assessing compliance with architectural guidance.
  • Identify and record inconsistencies in patterns, best practices, technologies, and tools used in the design of components in scope, working collaboratively with others to create a prioritized plan to resolve them.
  • Mentor, coach, train, and provide feedback to other team members, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning across the engineering organization.

Role Essentials — What You Bring

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or Technology with 8+ years of experience in professional software engineering across multiple technical and commercial environments.
  • Advanced working experience with Angular frameworks, TypeScript, and RxJS, including component-driven architecture, state management patterns (e.g., NgRx), and micro-frontend strategies.
  • Advanced working experience with modern front-end build tooling and CI/CD integration, including Angular CLI, module bundlers (Webpack/ESBuild), and automated testing frameworks (Jest, Cypress, Playwright).
  • Advanced working knowledge of software design, design patterns, architecture patterns, and quality attributes, with advanced software modelling skills covering information domain, process, state, security, and logical and physical architectural views.
  • Demonstrable experience applying front-end performance optimization techniques, including lazy loading, change detection strategies, Core Web Vitals, and WCAG accessibility compliance within large-scale Angular applications.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Broad and deep experience of all facets of professional software engineering in multiple technical and commercial environments
  • Advanced working experience with data structures, algorithms, and software design
  • Advanced working experience in understanding and application of software design, design patterns, architecture patterns, and quality attributes
  • Advanced software modelling skills covering information, domain, process, state, security, logical, and physical architectural views
  • Advanced working knowledge and application of modern software development lifecycle processes from product conception through deployment
  • Demonstrable experience of communicating effectively through multiple media to persuade and influence others
  • Experience, knowledge, and direct development experience of two or more technology stacks
  • Good oral and written communications skills that demonstrate a professional demeanor and the ability to interact with a variety of cross-functional roles
  • Good working level organizational, multi-tasking, and time management skills
  • Good working level collaboration and negotiation skills, applied successfully within team as well as with all levels of employees in other areas
  • Good working level leadership, sound judgement, and business acumen skills
  • Good interpersonal skills; able to maintain solid rapport with team members as well as maintain professionalism with those outside of department
