Overview

The Cloud Engineer 3 is responsible for designing, building, and operating shared cloud platform infrastructure that enables product engineering teams across the organization to deploy software reliably and securely. This role works at the intersection of platform engineering, infrastructure delivery, and security compliance, partnering with internal teams to solve complex infrastructure problems, drive GitOps and CI/CD best practices, and advance the maturity of cloud engineering across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain platform infrastructure and tooling using infrastructure as code (Terraform) and Kubernetes-native patterns, in alignment with established engineering standards
  • Partner with product engineering teams across the organization to deliver reliable, scalable deployment workflows on a shared Kubernetes-based cloud platform
  • Evaluate emerging cloud technologies through proof of concepts (POCs) and contribute to platform roadmap decisions, including areas such as service mesh, progressive delivery, secrets management, and multi-cloud expansion
  • Design and operate GitOps-based continuous delivery pipelines using GitHub Actions and related tooling, with a focus on deployment quality, security gate enforcement, and automation across Sandbox, Dev, Staging, and Production environments
  • Define and document best practices for platform deployment, infrastructure provisioning, and operational procedures; contribute to quality gate policies and internal engineering standards
  • Drive adoption of platform capabilities and operational processes across engineering teams, serving as a technical resource during onboarding and platform migration efforts
  • Establish and uphold engineering standards related to platform reliability, security posture, cost optimization, observability, and compliance with internal and industry standards
  • Act as an escalation point for complex platform issues, including Kubernetes cluster operations, deployment failures, infrastructure drift, and internal team requests for assistance
  • Promote and lead team level initiatives
  • Mentor coach train and provide feedback to other team members; may provide feedback to leadership on technical abilities of team

 

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in platform engineering, cloud infrastructure, DevOps, or a related technical field
  • Demonstrated experience with Kubernetes (EKS or equivalent) in a production environment, including cluster operations, workload management, and troubleshooting
  • Experience building and delivering enterprise applications 
  • Experience supporting cloud software that is in production and used by customers 
  • Experience working with one or more public cloud providers 
  • Experience implementing GitOps-based continuous delivery workflows using GitHub Actions or equivalent pipeline tooling
  • Experience with container orchestration platforms, including Kubernetes workload deployment, namespace management, and cluster-level operations
  • Experience with infrastructure as code deployments 
  • Strong oral and written communications skills that demonstrate a professional demeanor and the ability to interact with an executive presence 
  • Strong collaboration skills applied successfully within team as well as with all levels of employees in other areas
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills 
  • Strong attention to detail

  • Demonstrated knowledge of cloud-native design principles including containerization, immutable infrastructure, declarative configuration, and GitOps patterns
  • Familiarity with security and compliance requirements in a cloud context, including experience supporting or operating within audit-relevant control frameworks
  • General knowledge of a general purpose programming languages 

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AWS specifically, including EKS, IAM, Route53, API Gateway, and related services
  • Experience with observability tooling such as Dynatrace, Datadog, or equivalent platforms
  • Familiarity with service mesh technologies such as Istio or similar
  • Experience with Spacelift or similar Terraform orchestration and policy enforcement tooling
  • Experience with secrets management solutions such as HashiCorp Vault or OpenBao
  • Familiarity with progressive delivery patterns and tooling such as Argo Rollouts or Kargo
  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) certification or equivalent demonstrated expertise.
