Overview

The Business Intelligence Analyst – Semantic & Agent Analytics translates business needs into governed semantic models, reusable analytics assets, and analytics-enabled experiences built on Microsoft’s analytics platform. This role emphasizes semantic modeling, operational analytics enablement, and data agent readiness, rather than domain-specific reporting ownership.

Acting as an enterprise enablement function, the role supports adoption and monitored use of Power BI semantic models, Microsoft Fabric datasets, and Copilot / data agent capabilities, ensuring analytics is scalable, trusted, and consistently consumed across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain enterprise Power BI semantic models, including measures, relationships, hierarchies, and business logic that enable consistent analytics consumption.
  • Develop and manage governed, reusable datasets and certified analytics assets within Microsoft Fabric to support standardized operational analytics and self-service use cases.
  • Enable and support data agent and Copilot-driven analytics experiences by ensuring agents reference certified semantic models, validated datasets, and enterprise definitions.
  • Monitor, validate, and assess data agent outputs, usage patterns, and performance to ensure accuracy, trust, and alignment with business context.
  • Partner across business domains within a hub-and-spoke analytics framework to translate analytics needs into scalable, semantic-model–driven solutions rather than one-off reports.
  • Drive pilot use cases and adoption of new analytics functionality, including Microsoft Fabric features, Power BI enhancements, and agent-based capabilities, evaluating readiness for broader enterprise rollout.
  • Design and deliver operational analytics and insight experiences built on semantic models, optimized for consistency, reuse, and downstream analytics consumption.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on enterprise analytics patterns, semantic standards, and reporting best practices, influencing how analytics is built and consumed.
  • Perform data quality validation and integrity checks on analytics assets, identifying issues and partnering with engineering teams to remediate root causes.
  • Train and mentor analysts and business users on semantic modeling concepts, enterprise datasets, analytics agents, and interpretation of analytics outputs.
  • Support analytics governance by contributing to documentation, standards, and usage guidance for certified datasets, semantic models, and agent-enabled analytics experiences.
  • Analyze analytics asset usage, feedback, and adoption trends to inform continuous improvement of enterprise analytics enablement.
