Overview

The Sales Customer Advisory Consultant is responsible for providing industry/market knowledge leadership to current or prospective customers. They provide consultative industry/market input on how the company's software can support the customers business objectives.

What you will be doing

  • Operate as a consultant to the sales team and customers during standard customer engagements
  • Broaden the current or perspective customer's industry/market knowledge in relation to our company's software; drive customer need and create opportunities that increase revenue
  • Elicit business requirements from customers through interviews and document analysis; ensure alignment of solution with business opportunity
  • Develop solution selling tools such as product briefs, demo scripts and case studies to facilitate education of company employees, resellers, customers and prospects
  • May maintain relationships with third party organizations with the objective of shortening the sales cycle and deepening penetration within a market
  • Gather and document information on relevant customer-deployed market solutions
  • Support the sales team in achieving or exceeding sales objectives by growing knowledge and being aware of and sharing best practices, competitor insights and market trends around relevant industry and solutions
  • Collaborate with the marketing department; provide input to the development of sales collateral (brochures, white papers, case studies, presentations)
  • Collaborate with developers and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision to address usability and performance needs of customer
  • Work with the development team and advise on emergent features and solutions needed to meet customer requirements
  • Consistently provide input on how to improve internal efficiencies

What will make you successful

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Assigned industry or market knowledge and experience
  • Microsoft Office software proficient
  • Demonstrated ability to establish rapport and gain the trust of others
  • Strong at gaining consensus across multiple departments and leadership levels
  • Able to thrive in a fast paced, deadline and deliverable driven environment
  • Speak or write with ease, clarity and impact, using a communication style appropriate to the subject and the audience
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage projects independently to completion
  • Strong collaboration skills, applied successfully within team as well as with other areas
  • Up to 50% travel time required
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the principal duties of the job
